Whistler Concept PC and Data Companion.
I designed the user interface and button behaviors for a new product concept called the Data Companion in 2000. The Whistler Concept PC and the Data Companion won the Gold award in the Northwest IDSA Awards Interface category in 2002. I was awarded a patent for the unique use of color as an status indicator on buttons used as soft keys.
The Data Companion was created with the family in mind--and our team knew that family members are not all interested in the same information. A colored LED assigned to each user lets family members know when new email or important notifications is waiting.
